And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things I will do unto them and not forsake them.? Isaiah 42:16

The Village of Light was started in 1974 by ABWE missionaries Dal and Kay Washer. It is a compassion work of ABWE church planting ministries in Togo, West Africa. Our campus is situated near the city of Kpalime with facilities for classrooms, dorms and housing for missionaries.

Our ministry is to educate those who have been blinded by disease, accidents or genetics to be able to read the Bible. Our school is a haven for those who are shunned by society and family. It is a help to them to understand God?s love daily. Our joy is to bring these children to a saving faith and be a growing Christian.

The Village of Light has a Togolese staff of a Principal, eight teachers and aides to educate our students.
The Village of light shines the light of the Gospel of Christ into blind hearts through daily Bible lessons, as well as teaching blind students to read the Bible in French Braille.
The Village of Light shines out through our resource center that helps train our students to earn an income by learning a business skill to be used in their village and to evangelize their villages with tracts and personal Bible studies.
